As we head into the Winter season, we’re moving away from easily being able to outdoor shoots and are needing somewhere warmer to shoot. I’ve compiled a list of some of the Winnipeg indoor photo locations I’ve shot at in the last few years. I hope this is helpful to you as you look for a Winnipeg photoshoot location!
Location #1: May 11 Studio
It’s safe to say I have a new favourite indoor photo location in Winnipeg, May 11 Studio! It’s amazing!
They have several areas with different designs to give variety good to your photos. They also have a change room and bathroom for your convenience.
Everything about it is classy and elegant!
While there is a Christmas setup in the following photos you can still get an idea of what the studio looks like year round for non-Christmasy photos.
I can’t wait to be back in the new year to work with the studio for a regular (non-Christmas themed) photoshoot.

Winnipeg indoor photo locations #2: Manitoba Legislature
This location has quite a different look than the last one. We’re going from bright elegance to a far moodier look with the Manitoba Legislature building.
Because of the lack of windows, the legislative building is quite dark inside and additional lighting is needed in order to avoid heavy grain in your photos. This location can make for some really editorial photos, like the following ones with Danica & Gustine.
As with most studios, in order to shoot here a booking is needed. Also, be prepared for a security screening when you arrive.

Photoshoot locations #3: The Leaf
The leaf first opened in July 2021 and have since become the studio for many photoshoots that want a unique look you can’t get anywhere else in Winnipeg.
Depending on where inside the leaf you shoot, you will get some very different looks! As a photographer, I will mention that the longer the Leaf is open, the more the plants are affecting the quality of natural light in the Hartley and Heather Richardson Tropical Biome. As the plants get taller, they block more access to natural light from outside, which can lead to muddy looking skin tones. That being said, there are still a few nice lighting spots to be found! For my past sessions there, we’ve done a lot of shooting in the Mediterranean Biome to allow for the best skin tones.
In order to shoot at the Leaf, admission tickets must be purchased ahead of time. That can be done HERE. If you book a session with me, I can take care of it for you. :)
