Like many photographers, I like to do a model call session every year. These are very similar to my normal sessions. The main difference is that I have a more specific vision for what I would like to play around with and shoot. We still go through what the models would love to receive, and make sure to get that for them as well, but the aim is more for me to have creative fun with a low-pressure session.
This year, I did two of these sessions. A family and a couple’s model call. For the couple session, we took photos at the Assiniboine Park in Winnipeg. I’m not kidding when I say that this has become one of my absolute favourite locations! There is so much to work with that adds fun composition, lead lines, framing, etc., than a plain bush allows for (don’t get me wrong, I love a good bush photoshoot too).
Alex & Yeva have been together for six years and married for two and a half of those. During their time together, they’ve modelled for many styled shoots. So naturally, it was a perfect fit to have them get in front of my camera for this year’s model call. We split this session into two parts: a formal, classy portion and a more casual, picnic-style portion. This blog has my favourites from the formal portion because it was SO HARD to narrow it down (spoiler, it still has more photos than my normal blog😅).
